The bulb blew in the projector.
It isn't my projector, and the projector's real owner knows not that I have it. The story might be a familiar one - the bulb, like no other bulb you have ever seen is, of course, only stocked in specialist shops in the U.S, and a replacement is likely to lighten my pockets.
Regarding the cat, I wouldn't normally post such a picture as this. I spent last week in Istanbul - a city better known (I thought) for its packs of wild, itchy dogs, lying in the sun, curled around the furniture of the street looking half-alive and half asleep. But here instead I found a feline kingdom. Nobody told me. They move in the perimeter of every scene, and unlike the dogs, they have the ability to charm. Between the biscuits and milk and morsels from tourist tables they do just fine. The cats will inherit the city.
